I have already written a post about our day-to-day lives, but Emily and I decided to do a photo diary for one day to show everything we do all day (boring or not!). We chose our 75th day of hiking and we were in NY at the time. So here goes:

Alarm goes off at 6:15am, Emily continues to snooze in her quilt.

Bear enters the tent to make sure Jen and Em are both sufficiently awake.

Jen puts her contacts in with disgusting fingers. Gross.

Breakfast in the making- boiling water for oatmeal and tea.

Breakfast of champions- Cream of Rice cereal with pecans, almond butter and brown sugar.

Em with coffee, iphone and breakfast all at once!

Georgy doing his “job” – cleaning the dishes after all meals.

Emily packing up her pack in the tent, excited as always for the morning.

Georgy patrols as we prepare for the day.

Emily’s view of Jen hiking all day long.

And Jen’s view of Emily when she’s in front.

1st break of the day with the chosen snacks.

Emily goes through the “Lemon Squeezer” in the late morning.

Lunchtime! Jen spreads almond butter onto a tortilla for some good protein and carbs.

Our favorite combo of all time is our lunchtime dessert- nutella with pretzels.

Georgy enjoys a post-lunch nap before we head back out on the trail.

Jen filters water at a stream we found. Our water had run out the hour before so we were very grateful for this source!

Jen puts Georgy’s pack back on. He carries his food and our trash toward the end of the section.

Late in the afternoon we came upon Fitzgerald Falls, which was a beautiful change in scenery and had a campsite nearby. We decided to stop for the day here.

Emily prepares our favorite dinner- Thai Peanut Pasta, which includes tons of peanut butter for fat and protein.

Here is a close-up of the deliciousness that is the Thai Peanut Pasta.

Jen blows up her Thermarest in the tent to get ready for bed. For less than a pound we get 2+ inches off the ground. So comfy and totally worth the several minutes of blowing up each night!

Good night!

This was my favorite post of all time, in history! Although Jen, I don’t want to see that face you made in the bottom-most pic ever again, ever in history.
Seriously, this post really drove home in the most dramatic way the huge undertaking that is strapping on Georgy’s pack. Oh and hiking the AT is neat too.
